Our Team

Ryan leads the Commercial Insurance team, interacting with clients, managing company relationships, business planning, and execution. Ryan broadened his insurance knowledge and experience by working for a multinational insurance company in Waterloo, Halifax, and Toronto before returning to Algoma Insurance Brokers in 2014.

During his time in the industry (2008-2020), Ryan has achieved the designations of Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker, Canadian Risk Manager, and Chartered Insurance Professional. In addition, Ryan attained the coveted Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP) designation. This is the highest level of designation in the property & casualty insurance industry, only achieved by a few professionals across Canada, and Ryan is the first person from Sault Ste. Marie to have received it.

Ryan is a graduate from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Science Degree and recently completed an Executive MBA through Ivey Business School.

Patty leads an exceptional group of experienced and dedicated individuals whose goal is to provide our clients with exceptional customer service. Her Personal Insurance team is comprised of Sales, Customer Service and Technical Service employees.

After earning her RIBO license in 1983, Patty began her employment at Algoma Insurance in 1985 as a junior data entry clerk. Patty is now the Vice President of the Personal Insurance Department, which she has managed for over 13 years.

Her experience at Algoma has allowed Patty to become a wealth of knowledge for the Personal Insurance Department. With concrete examples from scenarios she has encountered and a keen interest in the development of our brokers, Patty has been dedicated to growing her own insurance acumen while furthering the education of the brokerage as a whole. She has earned her CAIB and CIP designations, and has taught CIP classes and mentored students from brokerages across Sault Ste. Marie.

Patty is highly respected in the industry, and is always looking out for what is in the best interest of the client.
