When a form is submitted from anywhere on Northern Insurance secure websites, it travels within one server only, and the information is protected from theft/loss/intrusion by firewall security installed for all Northern Insurance servers/systems. When an email message is transmitted, it is generated and transmitted from an external server to Northern Insurance’s internal email server. While both servers may be protected by firewall security, it would still be possible to intercept your message en route. A firewall protects the inside of Northern Insurance’s computer systems by refusing to allow unauthorized access. When a computer outside the firewall wishes to communicate with a computer on the inside, it must first communicate with the firewall, in a recognizable language in order to then pass data to the internal computer. This two-step process protects Northern Insurance’s internal computer systems from unauthorized access.
Secure socket layer protocol (SSL) ensures that information being passed between your browser and Northern Insurance’s server is confidential. SSL protocol provides a safe passage for data transmission and authentication processes by encrypting the information to ensure that the information cannot be viewed or altered.
Encryption is used to ensure that your personal information cannot be accessed by an unauthorized party while in transit from your PC to our computer. Every piece of information transmitted between your PC and our computer, beginning with your Username and Password, is encrypted before it leaves your PC. Encryption alters the data being transmitted into a string of unrecognizable characters that can be safely passed over the Internet. Once the data has been encrypted, only Northern Insurance and your PC can interpret the unrecognizable string of data and decrypt it by using a decryption key.
Information about the registered user, collected at the time of registration, is and shall be saved in a secure location, within a firewall-protected area. Once notified that a LGexpress-registered individual has left his/her brokerage, or wishes to discontinue use of LGexpress, that individual’s username and password will be removed from the system and never used again.
The transmission of data or information (including communications by e-mail) over the Internet or other publicly accessible networks is not secure, and is subject to possible loss, interception or alteration while in transit. Accordingly, we do not assume any liability for any damage you may experience or costs you may incur as a result of any transmissions over the Internet or other publicly accessible networks, such as transmission involving the use of your password for our website or the exchange of email with us (including those that may contain your personal information). While we shall take commercially reasonable efforts to safeguard the privacy of the information you provide us and treat such information in accordance with our Privacy Policy, in no event will the information you provide to us be deemed to be confidential, create any fiduciary obligations to you on our part, or result in any liability to you on our part in the event that such information is inadvertently released by us or accessed by third parties without our consent.
