As you may be aware, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) launched a national strike on September 25th. For the duration of the strike, mail and parcels will not be processed or delivered, and some post offices will be closed.
We want to provide you with a quick update on our approach to client communications and outline the delivery options available to you during this time.
Our staffing and service levels have not changed as a result of the strike, and we remain here for you with any questions or changes that you may have regarding your policies.
Here’s what you need to know to make sure you stay informed and don’t miss out on any important documentation related to your policies during the strike:
-
- Digital Document Delivery: We will be using email to deliver documentation that we typically send by mail. This includes renewal documents, invoices, pink slips, and other pieces of mail sent by our staff.
Mail that is typically sent by your insurance company may be held by the insurer until mail delivery resumes. To check on the status of your policy, including renewals or any recent changes you may have made, please reply to this email to request a digital copy. - Standard Mail: Mail typically sent by Northern Insurance Brokers (NIB) through Canada Post (such as renewals, invoices, etc.) has been held at our Sault Ste. Marie office since Friday, September 26th.
- Urgent Documents: NIB and many of our Insurers are prioritizing urgent correspondence via courier services that are not impacted by the strike. These documents include notices of cancellation, claims cheques, and other time-sensitive information. We will also send these documents by email when available.
- Payment Information: Payments to NIB and to your insurer will still be due during the strike. If you have made a recent change to your policy, or your policy has recently been renewed, please be aware that your payment amount may change. Please call our office to confirm your payment amounts if you are unsure.
All clients are welcome to pay electronically using e-transfer, call our office to have payment processed over the phone, or attend one of our offices to make a payment in person. - Future Updates: In the event of a prolonged strike, we are committed to finding alternative solutions to meet your needs, and will be in touch over email with any updates.
- Digital Document Delivery: We will be using email to deliver documentation that we typically send by mail. This includes renewal documents, invoices, pink slips, and other pieces of mail sent by our staff.
